SPOG is proud to announce that its President, Katrin Scheinemann, has been elected Vice-President of Oncosuisse.
At the beginning of September, the General Assembly of Oncosuisse elected new members to the Board of Directors: Professor Solange Peters, Vice-President of the Swiss Cancer League and Head of Medical Oncology at the University Hospital of Lausanne, is the new President.
Professor Katrin Scheinemann, President of SPOG and Head of Paediatric Oncology and Haematology at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Switzerland in St. Gallen, was elected Vice-President. This is the first time that two women have led Oncosuisse.
SPOG is a founding member of Oncosuisse. The election of Katrin Scheinemann is a sign of appreciation for her work on the Oncosuisse board over the past five years. It is also a recognition of paediatric oncology.
For years, Oncosuisse has been strongly advocating for a new national cancer plan, which was approved by Parliament at the end of February 2024. This decision paves the way for the development of a comprehensive nationwide strategy for people of all ages affected by cancer. SPOG is pleased that a paediatric oncologist will now help guide the future of Oncosuisse as Vice President.
Oncosuisse
Oncosuisse is an association of eight organisations (specialist societies, research and patient organisations) dedicated to the fight against cancer. They are active in prevention, early detection, research, care and support during and after cancer. Oncosuisse represents the political interests of these organisations in Switzerland and coordinates their activities.
