Study Teams Pediatric Oncology Switzerland SPOG

Within the Swiss Paediatric Oncology Group (SPOG), recognised experts take on key roles in the planning, implementation and oversight of national and international studies. The successful conduct of clinical trials and research projects in paediatric oncology is based on close collaboration, a high level of professional expertise and clearly defined responsibilities.

The National Study Chair (NSC) plays a key role in initiating a study in Switzerland and providing expert support, working closely with the SPOG Coordinating Centre, the member hospitals and international cooperation partners. He or she is available to answer medical questions and supports the implementation of the study at national level. The Vice National Study Chair (VNSC) shares these responsibilities and deputises where required. This team is supported by the Clinical Project Managers at the SPOG Coordinating Centre, who ensure regulatory coordination and that studies are conducted in compliance with legal requirements.

Studies are carried out in SPOG member hospitals, where dedicated healthcare professionals care for patients and implement the studies in day-to-day clinical practice. Together, everyone involved helps to ensure that children and adolescents with cancer in Switzerland are enrolled in clinical trials and research projects of a high standard, safely and in accordance with international standards.
