When a child is diagnosed with cancer, families face many difficult questions. The new platform «Swiss Kids Cancer Trials» helps parents, relatives, and affected children, young people and young adults find information about ongoing clinical trials in Switzerland, and to better navigate an incredibly challenging situation.
On the platform, families and those affected will find clearly presented information about clinical trials currently open in Switzerland. The aim is to create greater transparency and provide an initial overview of possible trial options – regardless of where the child, young person or young adult is being treated.
Each trial is described in plain, easy-to-understand language. This allows those affected and their families to quickly grasp what a trial involves, who it is intended for, and what questions they may wish to raise with their treatment team.
The platform is intended for information and guidance. It supports those affected and their families in preparing for conversations with medical professionals, but does not replace personal consultation with the treating physicians at paediatric oncology centres.
The platform lists both clinical trials coordinated by the SPOG in Switzerland, and further trials not coordinated by the SPOG. Every submitted entry is reviewed prior to publication by a member of the SPOG Board and a Patient Advocate from the SPOG Patient Advisory Board (SPAB). This ensures that the information is medically accurate, clearly communicated, and relevant to affected families.
«Swiss Kids Cancer Trials» is operated by the SPOG and funded by the non-profit organisation Zoé4life. The platform is independent and freely accessible to all.
